Thanks to Curators

I've been on the front page a few times lately. Last night my paddled stout bottle appeared with its rust counterparts, thanks to AmesHandmade. Then my vintage Audubon Society Pine Warbler card was on the front page with other items in the natural history vein, as a part of lauresaurus' treasury.

A couple days ago my vintage brass truck was featured on the front page, in an ethereal mixture of tone and texture by IlluminatedPerfume.

I really appreciate being included in these collections, and am even more grateful when their excellence in curation is recognized with a front page feature. It had been a long time since I'd been on the front page, and now I have had this rash of good luck!

Treasure the Day

I've fallen deeper into the rabbit hole of making treasuries on Etsy. As a result of this accomplishment/affliction, I have created a button in the margin that links to my treasuries. It's the one with the green paperboard box (treasure chest!) that is also in my shop.

Don't worry, I haven't given up curating lists on the blog. This is just another format for me to play in.

Early Morning Publicity

I was on the front page of Etsy early early this morning, though in a global marketplace I suppose it was 5:00 p.m. somewhere. Specialest thanks to TheVintageBearLair for putting together the treasury, and to Statsy for the real time heads up email.

Conducting Business

My marble coasters were on the front page this morning, as were my violin and grandfather's conductor's baton. Thanks to stylinstuff who compiled the group of items. In other news, I sold my brain today.

Front Page

A set of my coasters made it to the Etsy front page. I love the greys that they are curated with. I can count at least 6 other items that I might buy. I also like that this list was selected by Etsy. This is what I call my "Tea. Earl Grey. Hot." set of coasters.

ColorMatch

Today I learned about one of the coolest applications in third party software development for Etsy. I am a regular user of Craftcult and Craftopolis, and those are also very useful. But ColorMatch is useful in a different way - the other two are very seller oriented - but ColorMatch is fun on many levels. You upload a jpeg, enter keywords if you like, and then the ColorMatch software finds items listed on Etsy that are of the same hues found in your image. Let's use this batter bowl planter I have for sale as a sample image:

If you click on any of the hues below the paintbrush, it gives you listings from within that colorway. This is the blue in from the middle of the first row:

The ColorMatch application is great for finding items for a treasury, though getting a treasury slot is equal parts competitive and luck, so I've never been able to curate one. The developer of ColorMatch also has a sweet vintage shop and a fun blog. And let's admit, while the application is great and the items in the shop are covetable, the web design is really, really great. So great it makes me want to spend time on their site. And that is cool.

Be Still My Beating Heart

There is a super cool website out there that Etsy sellers should know about - http://www.craftcult.com/. They have developed an application called the Heart-o-matic, where you can enter your shop's name and see how many views and hearts your shop is getting. They also recently added a tab that tells you when your items are featured on the front page or in the gift guides. This is brilliant, especially for the front page, because those golden moments are fleeting. I intend to check this function frequently (though in vain more often than not, I suppose). Apparently, this morning at around 9:00, one of my slate trivets made it to the front page.
